Wear a Hat for World Book Day – 1St March 2018
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are looking forward to World Book Day which is on Thursday 1st March. To celebrate this popular event we are asking every child to come to school wearing a hat in the style of a favourite book. You can decorate a hat you already have at home or make one from scratch (please see some of the ideas below) The main aim is to have fun and to celebrate our love of reading but there will also be some small prizes for the winning hats. (Please note that children can request cardboard or paper from school if they need it)
On World Book Day the children will also work as a class to decorate their whole classroom door in the style of a book. Everyone will be able to contribute and a local librarian will be coming to school the following day to judge and decide on the winning door.
On the morning of World Book Day our Reading Buddies from Years 1 and 4 will be visiting Rock Ferry library. We value our links with local libraries and on the day, the children will enjoy a story time, find out how the library is organised and learn how to become a member of the library.
Please can we also take this opportunity to remind you that our Book Fair will be taking place on Tuesday 13th, Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March from 3.15-3.45pm. Also we are delighted to announce a new online reading club for our school. The children have been introduced to ‘Bug Club’ and there will be a parent/carer information session on Thursday 8th March at 2.30pm (more details to follow)
Many thanks in anticipation of your continued support.
