Advice for Parents on Cyberbullying
The NCA’s CEOP Command is here to help children and young people. They are here to help if you are a young person and you or your friend (up to age 18) has been forced or tricked into taking part in activity which makes you uncomfortable with anyone online, or in the real world. They also have advice and links to support for other online problems young people might face, such as cyberbullying and hacking. Visit their Safety Centre for advice and to report directly to CEOP, by clicking on the Click CEOP button.
At Mersey Park we take Cyberbullying and eSafety very seriously. We constantly feed information to the pupils about how to keep themselves safe on the Internet and when using technology. The “game”, although it feels completely wrong to call it that, which seems to be happening exclusively on Snapchat, is started by sending the letter X in a message. They’re all then forced to come up with as many horrible and malicious comments about that person’s weight, appearance or personality.
It’s then posted anonymously for all the world to see on a Snapchat Story – including the victim.
Please be vigilent and ensure none of our pupils become a target or become involved in this “game”. Thank you.

e-Safety Portal for Parents and Schools – Internet Matters
Internet Matters is an online portal designed for parents to access simple, easy and practical advice about online safety for their children, right through from pre-school to teens. It provides tips on protecting children from online grooming, cyberbullying, privacy and identity theft and inappropriate content. Internet Matters is a not-for profit organisation set up by BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media. Some that might be of particular interest include:

At Mersey Park we take Cyberbullying and e-Safety very seriously. This information we give to parents in order to try to spread awareness of how important this issue is and how parents/carers at home can support us in this area of technology. E-Safety Information for Parents.
